Travel Award Winner 2011
Congratulations to Ella Fung, winner of the Travel Award 2011!
The Newnham US Committee Members have committed to our College to provide a travel bursary with a preference for travel to the US or Canada during the summer. The bursary was advertised to Newnham's undergraduates and postgraduates for applications for this year. Votes and comments from you, the US-based alumnae, decided the winner, who receives $4000 for her trip. Thank you to everyone who voted!

Ella is a second year Biological Natural Sciences undergraduate. She
would very much like to work in scientific research. To this end she
would like to take up a placement at the Ottowa Hospital Research
Institute in Canada investigating the molecular and cellular mechanisms
of chemoresistance in ovarian cancer. This is the fifth most common
cancer in women and despite advances in treatments remains the most
lethal of gynaecological cancers. Ella believes that not only is it an
incredibly meaningful cause but it would also stretch her academic
capabilities and enhance her career choices.
